We are officially 2 weeks away from the first day of classes, and only 11 days away from Orientation and Registration. As applications are being processed and new students are getting ready to move to T-Town, there are undoubtedly those of you out there wishing that you were enrolled to be a VBC student this coming school year. As the Admissions Director, I get to talk to all kinds of people that think they may be interested in VBC. Some people have absolutely no idea what we do here and others have an extremely narrow idea of what we do here. As I’ve been talking to brand new applicants, I realized that there are some myths surrounding being a student at VBC that need to be addressed. If you have a few minutes, keep reading to see if you are guilty of believing some of these myths yourself!
Myth #1 | I can’t attend VBC because I work during the day!
FALSE! We have a night school! Our night classes are held at 6:00 pm and 7:50 pm Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. These classes are designed for the working adult. Even though they are more intimate classes, the credit still counts toward earning your VBC diploma. You can download a Night Class schedule off of our Academics page here on our website. You better get that application in, you VBC night student, you!
Myth #2 | I can’t be a VBC student because it’s too expensive/too big of a time commitment!
Did you know you can do our classes part time?! We have MANY students who are enrolled that only take a few classes per quarter. Maybe you aren’t interested in doing a full program and graduating, but would like to learn more about a specific area? Part-time classes are PERFECT for you! Go look at our different schedules, see what classes look interesting, and apply to be a part-time student and have VBC perfectly fit into your schedule! And are you still worried about the cost? Well, when you are a part-time student, each course is only $99! Go apply right now!
Myth #3 | I can’t apply to VBC because I won’t be accepted in time for school starting!
This is simply just not true! You have PLENTY of time to still apply! We will be accepting applications until Thursday August 28. The application process has three parts- the application, the recommendations, and transcripts. If you need more time to get your recommendations and transcripts submitted, we will work with you! The online application can be done in 30-40 mins. Why don’t you go start it right now?
